6th International Symposium on the Characterization of Porous Solids and Adsorption (COPS-VI)
Alicante, Spain
2002

The 6th International Symposium on the Characterization of Porous Solids (COPS-VI) was held 2002 at Alicante, Spain. At this big meeting (29 lectures, 154 posters, 220 participants) the latest developments on synthesis and characterization of dispersed or porous solids were discussed. Analytical methods include gas adsorption, X-ray small angle scattering, mercury intrusion, thermal analysis (in particular microcalorimetry), scanning probe microscopy, and image analysis. Theoretical work covers fundamentals of adsorption, e.g. field theories, density functional theory and simulations. The proceedings 'Characterization of Porous Solids VI' appeared in the series "Studies in Surface Science and Catalysis, vol. 144", edited by F. Rodríguez-Reinoso, B. McEnaney, J. Rouquerol, and K. Unger, Elsevier, Amsterdam 2002, ISBN: 0-444-51261-6, Price: USD/EUR 250,-. The book includes 99 papers on 780 pages. Although these are "only" proceedings, it is a very important book for specialists working in this field because the contributions represent an up-to-date and authoritative account of recent developments. The 7th International Symposium on the Characterization of Porous Solids (COPS-VII) will be held at Aix-en-Provence, France in 2005.

The 3rd Pacific Basin Conference on Adsorption Science and Technology, Kyungju, Korea, took place between May 25 - 29, 2003. (Web site: http://sepapuri.yonsei.ac.kr/pbast-1.htm)
